New Justice

Well, this isn't exactly new. But Justice released their live DVD/CD on November 22nd, and I've found some of the songs off the CD. If you have seen Justice live, then you realize how excited I am about this, and if you haven't, here is a taste. I can't get over how much I love these guys. All the tracks are live performances, kinda like the live Daft Punk CD. Phantom 1.5 is insane. GO AND PURCHASE A CROSS THE UNIVERSE!

Justice - Two Minutes to Midnight

Justice - DVNO (Live)

Justice - Phantom Pt. 1.5

Turkey Day Goodies

First, Happy Thanksgiving. Let us all be thankfull for good music. That being said, I was browsing the MP3 library today over at Stereogum, and I found one of the coolest remixes I think I've ever heard. It's a collaboration of Radiohead and Del Tha Funky Homosapien. I know, crazy right? Just listen to it...

Radiohead - Videotape (Amplive Remix Ft. Del Tha Funky Homosapien)

Also because I'm in the giving mood, I'm going to post some other good songs I think you will enjoy. The first one is from the Album Leaf, and it is guaranteed to put you in a nice, relaxing mood.

The Album Leaf - The Outer Banks

This one is from a band I just heard of yesterday and I love the song. Check it...

British Sea Power - Waving Flags

And finally, how about one more Radiohead remix, because I'm listening to it right now as I type and I like what I hear.

Radiohead - Nude (Holy Fuck Remix)

Lets all get eat and be lazy like this little guy...

The Slingshot Orchestra

A good music blog where I get a lot of music ideas from is Beats. I highly recommend checking it out (daily). Anyways, Beats turned me on to this band called Microfilm, and they released an album called The Slingshot Orchestra. It has a great eerie, minimalist electronic trance-like vibe to it. I dunno what genre that is really, but I dig it. Check out a couple of the songs below, and then go and buy the CD.

Microfilm - Fox and His Friends

Microfilm - Teenage Symphonies

Space Rock Opera

Obama won yesterday, and not that I care too much, but thank god Sarah Palin is nowhere near the white house. I mean, I could tolerate McCain I guess, but Palin seriously is the worst. But, she lost and I am happy because of it. To celebrate, lets talk Justice. With the combination of Daft Punk's A.L.I.V.E. tour and populatirty of Justice over the past 2 years, electronic music has made a strong and amazing comeback (if you wanna call it that). Justice's Cross was probably my favortie album of 2007. Other than remixes, they havent relased any orginal material since Cross. This is kind of old news in the blog scene, but recently they released a 4 part, original space rock opera that was used in some Dior fashion show thing. Part 4 is an all new original track that wasnt at the fashion show, and its amazing. The track(s) are called Planisphère and they were released for free online. It truly is classic, epic Justice. All 4 parts are below: Enjoy

Justice - Planisphère (Part 1)

Justice - Planisphère (Part 2)

Justice - Planisphère (Part 3)

Justice - Planisphère (Final)

And for some more good shit, one of my favorite Justice remixes:
Justice - Phantom Pt. II (Boys Noize Unreleased Turbine)

The Current

Minnesota is home to hands down the best radio station in the entire United States (Claim). It's part of Minnesota Public Radio, and the name is The Current. Public radio means listener contributions keep it running, but it also means no commercials. They play all types of new and upcoming music of all genres, and plus you can listen too it online via their stream which can play through itunes. I highly recommend doing so. The also have a podcast called The Current: Song of the Day, and if you like the song, you can download it for free, here.
Here's a good song from today's date that I enjoyed.

Unicorn Dream Attack - Alone

Snowboard Edit

In case you havent noticed yet, I prefer skiing over boarding. But I have no disrespect against it, in fact, I love riding with boarders. I found a snowboard edit that I thought was some good, shit, right Merokee? Check it out...

Knightlife!

I found it! Finally after all these days I found this song. Its by Knightlife, a producer (I think thats what they call them) from Australia. The song is in the Voluerz Outdoor Education trailer. Heres the link, and your welcome...

Like Woah - Oh I Like (Knightlife Remix)

Voluerz is a clothing company that is releasing a free HD ski AND snowboard movie. And not just alot of skiing and some snowboarding (TGR), but this one actually looks legit. I think that the combination of skiing and boarding in the same video is a great, much needed and a little over due idea. Good work Voluerz, you guysrepresent the future of winter sports.

Stereogum Presents: RAC Vol. 1

Another really good DJ/Producer that I like is RAC, or Remix Artist Collective. RAC is a one man show from the Portuguese André Allen Anjos. He does some very good quality remixes, so when I found out last summer that Stereogum had hired(?) him to do a remix album available for free on their website, I was of course very stoked on the idea. And so I downloaded it, and listened to it pretty much non-stop all summer. And you should download it too...

Here is the entire album: (Its a zip file)
Stereogum Presents: RAC, Vol. 1

Or, you can use this player below to listen to it, and then just download the ones that you like. But you should just download the album cause there all good...

Little People

One of my favorite type of music is trip-hop, or hip hop instrumental, or whatever you wanna call it. Basically it is good beats usually without any MC or singer over it. I discovered Little People last year in the Level 1 movie, REALTIME, and the opening song Start Shootin' blew me away. It was definitely one of my favorite songs of last year. I can't find any of the tracks off their only album, Mickey Mouse Operation, but they do have some free bonus tracks on their website which I've posted below. But definatly buy, download, do whatever you can to get this album. The songs below are good, but don't do the album justice. Behind Closed Doors is very good, but I can see why the other two are only bonus tracks. Check out their website, (click on Little People) you can stream an album preview.

Little People - Behind Closed Doors (Full Version)

Little People - Lunar

Little People - Arboretum

DJ Shadow vs. Franz Ferdinand - Take My Organ Out (Little People Mash Up)

And just for shits, the REALTIME trailer for the movie where I first heard Little People...

In The Dog-House

Holy shit. Had to share this...

The Culture of Gullibility

I love movies and I love reading about evolution and things of that nature. Patrick Goldstein of the LA Times wrote a very interesting article in his blog The Big Picture about the state our culture in the US is moving towards. Is our current way of living in US good or bad, I don't know. I do know that they way were moving as people is inevitable. Modern technology just keeps making life easier. Once you read it, you'll understand what I mean.

The Culture of Gullibility

And while I'm on this topic, Roger Ebert (Yes the movie critic) wrote a funny article on creationism and the bible. Both of which make me lose faith in humanity. (By the way. Sarah Palin thinks that creationism should be taught along evolution in schools. If she wins, were fucked)

Video (Usually) Killed the Radio Star

Music videos for the most part suck. Usually they are for some crap song that should be on MTV (i.e. Rihanna, That Apple Bottom Jean Song, you get the idea). But once and awhile there will be a good song that ALSO has a good video to go along with it. When I say good video, I mean not just a video of a band playing live from a bunch of different camera angles in the desert or warehouse or something. So I'm gonna start posting songs PLUS the videos that accompany it. If you think you know a good song that has a good video, comment about it.

Bat For Lashes - Whats A Girl To Do

The New Pornographers - Use It

Lemon Jelly - Nice Weather For Ducks

Great Gig In the Sky

For some reason I find this video beautiful...

Electronic Beats

Just bought tickets for the Electronic Beats festival in Prague on November 11th. It's gonna be a good time, with Hercules and Love Affair and Mr. Oizo being the acts I'm most looking forward too. And also, just found out that Junior Boys will be playing there too. Hell. Yes. It's at the National Gallery, which I have no idea what or where that place is, but its in Prague, and its a national gallery, so it sounds tight. Check out some music from the bands playing...

Hercules and Love Affair - Blind

Junior Boys - The Equalizer

Mr. Oizo - 1984 (Ft. Uffie)

The Orb - Let the Music Set You Free

LAZRtag and MIA

So I heard of these two guys out LA called LAZRtag and I'm pretty much obsessed with their original songs. They have the potential to become big in the electronic scene. Check out their best song, Detonate. They also do a lot of remixes, including a brand new Paper Planes remix. And while were on the MIA subject, she has possibly one of the worst live shows I've ever seen. I've seen her twice, and the both times she was so terrible. Stopping songs halfway through, repeating the chourus over and over instead of the words, etc. Seriously, I dont know if she was just too coked out for her own good, or just plain wasted. For her encore, her backup dancers had to push her to the front of the stage just to get her to sing, or talk or rap or whatever she does. Now, dont get me wrong, I love MIA. Been a hardcore fan since Arular. But I think that the sucess of paper planes has really gotten to her head. The song was good, in August 2007 when it came out. Now, if I hear it, the next song is immidatly pressed. But enough hate. LAZRtag is some good shit, right Merokee?

LAZRtag - Detonate (Listen!)

LAZRtag - Work Is Play

MIA - Paper Planes (LAZRtag Remix)

The Ting Tings - Shut Up and Let Me Go (LAZRtag Remix)

Crystal Castles VS Health - Crimewave (LAZRtag Remix)

BONUS!!!
Crystal Castles VS Health - Crimewave
The original is kick ass

Nuke the Fridge

What the fuck Lucas. This has your name written all over it. Now I understand why Spielberg was hesitant to make this movie in the first place. You've lost all grip on reality. I love South Park.
